Flares with a Twist

Not a fan of the flared trouser? Too scared to take the flared plunge? Whilst a pretty awesome nod to the pretty awesome decade (style wise – lets not mention the politics) that was the seventies, they are at best a little impractical, and at worst a trend that only a select group of long legged giraffes can seamlessly pull off.

But if you fancy dipping your toe into the world of flares, why not try the flared sleeve? The dramatic effect can be balanced with a simple pair of jeans or by adding texture elsewhere in your look. Plus you don’t need to be 7 foot and as thin as a rake, whatever your size and style, and wherever you draw your inspiration from – be it the swinging sixties and seventies, or the grunge loving nineties, you can rock the flared sleeve.

This wine red high necked lil’ gem is from Boohoo and its a dream because it can be dressed up and down. Its ribbed texture works great as it adds an air of quality despite being cheap as chips! I’ve teamed it with a dreaaaamy velvet slip dress from Pull and Bear which adds texture and some luxe style to a simple daytime outfit. The colour combo is perfect for this time of year with all the deep reds, burnt oranges and chocolate browns around.

So VOILA. Add something different to a casual look to get heads turning. Coz who wants to blend in? NOT ME.
